Gun Safe & Safe Movers in Sacramento
600 to 1,500 pounds, a narrow base and nothing safe to grip. This is the job where people damage a floor, a doorframe or their back — and the one most movers turn down.
always on time
Why most movers won't take it
A safe concentrates more weight into a smaller footprint than anything else in a house. It tips easily, it has no useful handholds, and once it starts going over there’s nothing a person can do about it. That combination is why plenty of moving companies quietly decline safes — and why the ones who accept without asking about your stairs are the ones to worry about.
Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.
Why it matters who moves it
Our own crew, and we plan the route first
The people moving your safe are on our payroll — trained, certified and background-checked — never labor hired that morning. We work out the route before the day: which doorway, which turn, how many people, and whether the floor at either end will take the point load.
Discretion as standard
Every employee is background-checked. We don’t need to know what’s in it, we don’t discuss your address or your contents with anyone, and nothing about the job identifies what we moved.
What we move
Gun safes. From compact to full-height, single and double-door.
Home and office safes. Floor safes, document safes, fire safes.
Commercial units. Drop safes, deposit safes and anything already bolted down.
Within the home. Garage to basement, upstairs to down, or clear of a room while work happens — no truck needed.
Delivered but not placed. The retailer left it in the driveway. We’ll get it where it’s actually going.

Tell us the make and model or rough weight, and what the route looks like at both ends — stairs, turns, doorway widths, and what the floor is. You’ll have a price online.
What we need to know before the day
The weight. Model number is enough; we’ll look it up. A 500-pound safe and a 1,200-pound one are different jobs.
The stairs. How many, and whether there’s a turn. A straight flight is manageable; a switchback is the hard one.
The floor at both ends. Tile, hardwood and laminate all mark under point loads. Tell us and we protect them.
Whether it’s bolted down. If it’s anchored to the slab, say so when you book so the crew arrives with what’s needed.
Empty it first if you can. Contents are weight, and weight is time.
What it costs. The crew is billed hourly from $159, plus a flat $99 truck and fuel charge. Any single item over 250 lbs carries a $200 handling fee — which means every gun safe worth locking. If your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart, drive time is billed at double.

Safes sit alongside the other items over 250 lbs — see heavy item moving and piano moving. If you’d rather the job wasn’t discussed outside the crew, see private and discreet moving. Safes in an office or a business premises are handled under commercial moving. If the safe is moving with the rest of the household, add it to a local move and we’ll price it in one number.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.
What isn’t included in the hourly rate?
Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or specialty handling for antiques and delicate pieces.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both license numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.
What areas do you serve?
The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorized for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.
For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
