Long-Distance Movers in Sacramento

Moving out of the region or across California? The crew loading your home is the same crew we send on local jobs — on our payroll, trained and background-checked, not hired for the day.

icon-8 always on time

The part of a long move nobody warns you about

On a local job the truck is unloaded the same afternoon. On a long one your belongings are on the road for days, and the questions change: who is actually driving, does anyone touch your boxes in between, and what happens if the delivery window moves. We answer those before you book, not after your things have left.

Ask us before you book

Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.

Why people trust us with a long move

Owned by the movers who show up

The crew on your job is on our payroll — trained, certified and background-checked — never labor hired that morning. Nobody earns commission for upselling you, because nobody here is selling. We’ve completed over 5,000 moves since 2020, and we’re licensed, insured and bonded: MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, USDOT 3810402 with FMCSA, carrying up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover.

How a long-distance move runs

1. Quote. Give us the two addresses and what’s coming with you. The price comes back online — no in-home survey needed to see a number.

2. Pack and load. Everything is labelled by destination room before it leaves, so the far end isn’t guesswork.

3. Delivery. Furniture is reassembled and boxes go to the rooms they’re labelled for, not stacked in the hallway.

What drives the price on a long move

Four things move the number: how far it’s going, how much is coming with you, how hard the access is at each end, and when you need it there.

Distance and volume you already know. Access is the one that surprises people — a third-floor walk-up at the origin and a narrow street at the destination cost more time than the miles between them. Tell us about both when you quote and the price holds.

Timing matters too. A fixed delivery date costs more than a flexible window, so if your dates can move, say so and we’ll price it that way.

Get a long-distance quote

Two addresses, a rough inventory, and the date you need to be in. You’ll have a price without a site visit or a sales call.

Long-distance moves we handle

Across California. Sacramento to Los Angeles, San Diego, the Central Coast — anywhere the job is too far to be billed by the hour.

Out of the Bay Area. Leaving San Francisco, Oakland or San Jose for somewhere else in the state.

Homes and offices. Same crew, same standard, whether it’s a two-bedroom or a twelve-desk office.

Partial and single-item. You don’t need to move a whole house. We’ll take one room, or one piece that’s too heavy or too valuable to put in a rental truck.

Every job is done by our own employees — trained, certified and background-checked. We’re licensed, insured and bonded: MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, USDOT 3810402 with FMCSA, with up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover.

Related services

Crossing a state line rather than staying in California? That is interstate moving, which is federally regulated separately from our California license — we are not currently authorized for it, so we will say so up front and point you to a carrier who is. If your dates don’t line up at both ends, storage covers the gap. Long trips are hard on badly packed boxes, so most long-distance customers add full packing or pick up packing materials from us; anything fragile or valuable should go through fine art and delicate item handling. Start with an instant quote — long-distance pricing doesn’t work like hourly local work, and you should see the number before you plan around it.

FAQ

How much does a move cost?

Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.

What isn’t included in the hourly rate?

Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or specialty handling for antiques and delicate pieces.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both license numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.

What areas do you serve?

The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorized for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.

For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
