Moving Boxes & Packing Supplies in Sacramento
Boxes, tape, paper and wrap delivered with your crew — or ahead of the move if you're packing yourself. Book a full-packing job and the reusable plastic bins are complimentary.
always on time
Buying boxes badly costs more than buying them well
The supermarket boxes are free and they fail at the worst moment, usually on a staircase. The mistake people make is the opposite too — buying twice as many large boxes as they need, filling them with books, and then not being able to lift any of them. What you actually want is mostly small boxes, a few large ones, and more tape than feels reasonable.
Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.
Why get them from your mover
They arrive when you need them
Delivered ahead of your move date, or brought with the crew on the day. No hardware store run on the Saturday you’d planned to spend packing.
The right count, not a guess
Tell us the size of the home and we’ll tell you what it actually takes. We move houses this size every week, so the estimate comes from doing it rather than from a chart.
What we supply
Boxes. Small, medium and large, plus wardrobe cartons with a hanging rail so clothes go straight across.
Speciality boxes. Dish barrels for kitchens, mirror and picture cartons, TV boxes.
Wrapping. Packing paper, bubble wrap, stretch film, furniture blankets.
Tape and labels. More tape than you think, and markers so boxes get labelled by destination room.
Reusable plastic bins. Complimentary with any full-packing job — sturdier than cardboard, and nothing to break down afterwards.
Get supplies with your quote
Tell us the size of the home and when you’re moving. Supplies are quoted with the move, so you see one number rather than a surprise line later.
How much you actually need
Two rules cover most of it. Books and dishes go in small boxes — a large box of books cannot be lifted safely by anyone. Bedding and clothes go in large ones, because they weigh nothing and fill space.
The kitchen takes roughly twice as long as people expect and uses more paper than everything else combined. If you’re going to hand one room to us, make it that one.
Whatever’s left over, we’ll take back unused when we collect.
Related services
If you’d rather not do it at all, our crew packs the whole home — see packing services. Art, mirrors, glass and antiques need more than a box and tape; that’s fine art and delicate item handling. Supplies are usually ordered with the move itself, whether that’s a local move or just loading and unloading into a unit.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.
What isn’t included in the hourly rate?
Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or speciality handling for antiques and delicate pieces.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both licence numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.
What areas do you serve?
The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorised for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.
For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
