Fine Art & Antique Movers in Sacramento
Paintings, sculpture, mirrors, antiques and anything where "we'll be careful" isn't good enough. Moved by our own crew, with the value of the piece known before anyone touches it.
always on time
The problem isn't weight, it's that it can't be replaced
A dropped television is an expense. A cracked frame, a torn canvas or a chipped marble edge is a loss you can’t buy your way out of. So the work changes: pieces are wrapped and crated individually, carried rather than stacked, and nothing sits under anything else. Slower, and that’s the point.
Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.
Why people trust us with irreplaceable things
The same vetted crew
Everyone handling your pieces is on our payroll — trained, certified and background-checked. Never labour hired that morning, and never someone seeing your collection for the first time without having been vetted.
Covered, and it's in writing
We’re licensed, insured and bonded: MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, USDOT 3810402 with FMCSA, carrying up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Tell us the value of a piece before the day and we’ll tell you exactly how it’s covered — before you book, not after something happens.
What we handle
Paintings and framed works. Wrapped face-protected and carried on edge, never laid flat under anything.
Sculpture and objects. Bronze, ceramic, glass — padded and braced so nothing bears its own weight against a hard surface.
Mirrors and glass tops. The most commonly broken item in any move, and the easiest to protect properly.
Antique furniture. Old joinery doesn’t tolerate being lifted by the wrong part. We know which parts those are.
Collections. Wine, records, instruments, display cabinets — packed as a set and kept together.
Single pieces. One painting, one cabinet, one delivery from a gallery or auction house.
Get a fine art quote
Tell us what the pieces are, their rough dimensions and value, and where they’re going. For high-value items we’ll talk through crating and cover before anything is booked.
Tell us the value before the day
This is the one thing people leave out, and it’s the one that matters. A mover who doesn’t know a piece is worth $40,000 will treat it like a piece worth $400 — not carelessly, just normally.
Give us a value and a description when you quote. It changes how the item is packed, where it travels, and what cover applies. It costs nothing to tell us and it’s the only way the protection matches the piece.

Most customers book this alongside full packing, since the rest of the home still needs boxing. For whole collections, or a house where nearly everything needs this level of care, see white-glove service. Instruments have their own page: piano moving. If you’re packing the ordinary items yourself, we supply materials. Pieces travelling out of state should be read together with interstate moving.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.
What isn’t included in the hourly rate?
Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or speciality handling for antiques and delicate pieces.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both licence numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.
What areas do you serve?
The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorised for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.
For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
