House Movers in Sacramento

Three bedrooms, a garage you've been meaning to sort out, and a loft nobody has opened in four years. Priced online from what you tell us — four movers and a 26ft truck from $249 an hour.

The garage is always bigger than you think

People quote their house by its bedrooms, and then the estimate breaks on the garage, the loft and the shed — which between them often hold more volume than an entire bedroom. It’s the single most common reason a moving day runs long. Count those three honestly when you quote and the number holds.

Ask us before you book

Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.

Why people pick us for a whole house

The crew is ours, all of it

A house move needs four or five people, and that’s where most companies start topping up with day labour. Ours don’t. Everyone on your job is on our payroll — trained, certified and background-checked — and they’ve worked together before.

One price, worked out before the day

Four movers and a 26ft truck are $249 an hour, five are $299. Published rates, the same for everyone. We’re licensed, insured and bonded: MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, USDOT 3810402 with FMCSA, carrying up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover.

What a house move includes

Every room, and the ones people forget. Garage, loft, shed, side return, under the stairs.

Disassembly and reassembly. Beds, wardrobes and anything that won’t clear a doorway assembled.

Appliances. Disconnected, moved and reconnected where the connection is straightforward.

Packing, if you want it. Full, partial, or just the kitchen and the fragile things.

Storage, if the dates don’t line up. We load, store and redeliver — no second company involved.

Bedrooms, plus an honest answer on the garage and the loft. Two addresses and your date. You’ll have a price online.

What actually decides the hours

How much is packed when we arrive. The biggest variable by a distance. A house that’s ready loads in half the time.

Where the truck can park. A long carry from the kerb costs more time than stairs do.

Stairs at both ends. Especially a turn at the top or the bottom.

What’s coming apart. Beds and wardrobes take time to disassemble and time again to rebuild.

None of these are surprises if you tell us in advance — and all of them become surprises if you don’t.

Alongside the hourly rate. A flat $99 truck and fuel charge. Drive time billed at double if your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart, which most house moves are. And a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs — safes, pianos, gym equipment, pool tables.

Houses hold more furniture than people expect, so furniture moving and assembly usually come into it, and full packing is the difference between a one-day job and a two-day one. If the sale closes before the new place is ready, storage covers the gap. Downsizing a parent’s home is its own kind of move — see senior moving.

FAQ

How much does a move cost?

Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.

What isn’t included in the hourly rate?

Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or speciality handling for antiques and delicate pieces.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both licence numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.

What areas do you serve?

The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorised for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.

For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
