Moving Storage in Sacramento
Between homes, mid-renovation, or waiting on a closing date? We load, store and redeliver — the same crew at both ends, so nobody handles your things who hasn't been vetted.
always on time
Storage that doesn't mean handling everything twice
The usual version of storage costs you two moves and a rental van: you load a unit yourself, then unload it again months later. We load at your place, store, and redeliver when you’re ready — so your things get handled by a vetted crew, not by whoever you could talk into helping on a Saturday.
Not sure how many hours your move will take, or whether your building's rules will slow the day down? Send us the two addresses and roughly what's moving, and we'll tell you straight — no site visit, no sales call.
Why store with your mover
One company, start to finish
Load, store and redeliver all sit with us. There’s no handover between a moving company and a storage company, which is where things usually get lost, damaged, or blamed on the other party.
Owned by the movers who show up
The crew handling your belongings is on our payroll — trained, certified and background-checked — never labour hired that morning. We’re licensed, insured and bonded: MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, USDOT 3810402 with FMCSA, carrying up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover.
When people use it
Between homes. The sale closed before the purchase did, and you need somewhere for everything for a few weeks.
Renovation. Furniture out while the floors go in, back once the dust has settled.
Downsizing. You know what’s going to the new place and you’re not ready to decide about the rest.
Staging a sale. Half the furniture out so the house photographs and shows well, back after closing.
Between leases. A gap of a month or two that doesn’t justify a second rental.
Get a storage quote
Tell us roughly what’s going in and how long you expect to need it. You’ll get the storage and the moving both priced together, online.
How it works
We load at your place with the same crew and equipment as a normal move — blankets, straps, the lot — so nothing gets stacked badly by someone in a hurry.
Storage is priced by how much space your belongings take and how long they’re there. You get both numbers up front, with the move, rather than a monthly bill that starts once you’ve committed.
When you’re ready, tell us the date and the address and we redeliver.
Related services
Storage is usually one half of a job rather than the whole of it. Most customers pair it with a local move or a long-distance move when a closing date and a move-in date don’t line up — common on house moves and on apartment moves where the lease runs out first. If you only need the truck loaded into or out of a unit, book loading and unloading by itself. Boxes and wrap for anything going into storage are on the packing supplies page.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
Rates start at $159/hour for two movers and a 16ft truck, $199/hour for three movers and a 26ft truck, $249/hour for four, and $299/hour for five. Add a one-time $99 flat rate for truck and gas, whatever truck size you need. You price the job yourself online — pick your crew, date and addresses and the quote comes back in minutes. No in-home visit, no sales call.
What isn’t included in the hourly rate?
Six things, all of them listed up front: the $99 flat rate for truck and gas; packing supplies such as boxes, paper and bubble wrap; a $200 handling fee for any single item over 250 lbs (piano, gun safe, pool table, treadmill, massage chair); double drive time when your two addresses are more than 10 miles apart; overnight storage; and custom crating or speciality handling for antiques and delicate pieces.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Smoove holds MTR0192675 with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services and USDOT 3810402 with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and carries up to $1,000,000 in general liability cover. Basic cargo protection for your household goods is included in every move. Both licence numbers are public records — look them up before you book, with us or anyone else.
What areas do you serve?
The Sacramento region and the Bay Area — more than 70 cities, from Auburn and Elk Grove through to San Jose and Walnut Creek. We also handle long-distance moves within California, originating in either region. We are not currently authorised for interstate moves, so if you are leaving the state we will tell you straight away and point you to a carrier who is.
For thirteen of those cities we have written up the local parking rules, permits and truck access, and what each one actually means on move day: Sacramento, West Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Stockton, Manteca, San Francisco, San Mateo, Walnut Creek, Vallejo and Petaluma.
